Eto'o scored his side's opener at Stamford Bridge and celebrated the goal by mocking his manager Jose Mourinho's much-publicized comments about his age.
In February, Mourinho was caught, in conversation with the head of Swiss watch-makers Hublot on French TV channel Canal Plus, joking about his club's lack of strikers and adding that Eto'o was probably older than he actually was.
Speaking in French, the Portuguese said: ‘The problem with Chelsea is I lack a scorer. I have Eto’o but he is 32 years old, maybe 35, who knows?’
Eto'o walked liked a hunched old man by the corner flag, whilst clutching his back much to the amusement of the current Europa League holders.
Speaking about his forward's celebration after the match, Mourinho laughed: ‘I didn’t suggest the celebration but I knew about it.
‘We thought it was good because the best way to defuse the situation is to make fun of it.’
